In October 2009 four artists will compete for one of the most contentious prize in the world of modern art, the Turner Prize. With Roger Hiorns, Lucy Skaer, Enrico David, and Richard Wright nominated this year, the Turner Prize at Tate Britain, London promises to be exciting.
All nominated artists have very colourful profiles. Enrico David is a contemporary surrealist, who creates paintings, drawings and sculptures; Hiorns creates monuments and setting up joining remarkable resources. Skaer, the only lady nominated, creates sketches, statues and pictures that frequently take established pictorial sources as their initial point; Wright makes fine, delicate and superb wall pictures that react straight to the structural design in which they are produced.
The Turner Prize winner will receive a substantial cash reward and the prestige associated with the name. The judges for the Turner Prize 09 in London are Mariella Frostrup, Charles Esche, Jonathan Jones and Andrea Schlieker. The Turner Prize exhibition at the London Tate Britain will continue from October through to January 2010.
