London's Pride Parade has rapidly grown is scope and scale over the past few years and now attracts large numbers of both gay and straight people to this lively mix of fun and politics in what is now established as one of Britain's biggest street parties. This year about 500,000, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and straight people will fill Oxford Street and Regent Street for the parade as it winds its way towards Trafalgar Square. Around 80 floats and over 200 accompanying bands and costumed groups will make up the parade. In Trafalgar Square the more serious business begins - from the stalls and events to support the gathering to major political and other speakers there to cover the successes for the Gay Rights movement in the preceding year. Lighter hearted events take place simultaneously in Soho and Leicester Square, with the bands and other entertainers providing cabaret in Leicester Square whilst a vast market and food festival takes place in Soho. Expect the hundreds of lesbian and gay bars and clubs in the Soho area to keep the celebrations going right through the night.Visiting Pride London 2009:
