The Bonfire Night 2009 will be held at various venues across London and will continue the tradition that started 400 years ago.

To mark the failed Gunpowder Plot, which was foiled by Guy Fawkes in 1605, Londoners lit bonfires in thanksgiving that their King was saved. From that night of the 5th November, the tradition in London prevailed and the Bonfire Night is celebrated every year.

According to tradition, preparations for this feast include the making of the Guy Fawke's dummy and then placing him on the top of the bonfire, which is then set alight together with the fireworks that follow to fill the sky.
