SPRING TIME IN LONDON

At last it's spring and we can look forward to longer evenings (don't forget, the clocks go forward an hour on 21 March), warmer weather and a sea of daffodils in the Royal Parks. Treat mum to a special Mother's Day weekend, with afternoon tea and an evening at the theatre. You can still get tickets for some of the West End's favourite shows, including Chicago, The Mousetrap and The Lion King.

ROYAL TRADITIONS

Each day at 11.30 (alternate days in winter) see the world-famous Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace as a new troop of the Queen's personal bodyguards, The Brigade of Guards, marches from Chelsea or Wellington Barracks to relieve the guard at the Palace. And at 11am on weekdays, 10am on Sundays, watch a Household Cavalry detachment relieve the guard at Horse Guards on Whitehall.

JOIN IN THE FUN

On 14 March, join in the fun on the St Patrick's Day festival and Parade, with 100s of stalls along the route and a folk music stage - tel: 020 8735 9407. Join the thousands of fans and cheer on your favourite team at the 150th Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race, which takes place on 28 March on the River Thames between Putney and Mortlake.

WHAT'S ON IN MARCH

Fine Art & Art & Antiques Fair (2-7), Homes Overseas Exhibition (5-7), The Homebuyer Show (5-7), London Book Fair (Olympia, 6-8), Daily Mail Ideal Home Show (10 March - 4 April), Country Living Spring Fair (Business Design Centre, 17 - 21) Classic Car Show (Alexandra Palace, 20-21 March) and Alternative Fashion Week (22 - 26).
