King's Road London

Originally a private road for King Charles II taking him from Hampton Court Palace to his Palace in Whitehall, the King's Road in Chelsea was only available to ticket holders until the 1830's when it was opened to everyone. The King's Road became trendy in the swinging sixties when many chic fashion shops at London Kings Road opened up and it became the place to go if you wanted to be cool and hip. Today the King's road in London has maintained its fashionable entity with many exclusive designer shops and boutiques leading the way in fashion. The Kings Road is often frequented by Sloane Rangers (a term used to describe well-to-do young ladies, named after Sloane Square at the top of the King's Road.)

A great place to hunt for antiques, the area around London King's Road includes many up-market antique shops and frequent sales are held at the auction houses in Lots Road, just off the King's Road. The Chelsea Old Town Hall is also a venue for regular antique fairs.

King's Road in Kensington is known for its fashionable boutiques, great restaurants, bars and shopping. You will not be disappointed if you like style, trend and individuality and your wallet is thick enough. This famous road became very popular in the 1960s as a spot to start a new wave of fashion (mini-skirt revolution). In London King's Road you can now find many high street chains that have pushed out the trendy boutiques, however the existing shops still offer cutting edge style. King's Road in London is a great place for 'people watching', where you may spot a celebrity for instance Cher strolling along or an eccentric such as a man on a penny-farthing.
